The DPA 4061 is easily placed on the violin. With the clip there are two possible positions - one close to the top (as the picture shows) and one with the the microphone above the strings.
Here is a clip recorded through the AER alpha plus with the microphone placed close to the top, this gives the best balance between bleed and gain before feedback:
